Welcome to Fifth Grade! I am so excited to have you in my class this year! I hope you have had a fun-filled summer and are now looking forward to a new and exciting year at Trinity. You will be changing classes this year! I will be your Language Arts and Bible teacher. We will have fun learning English grammar, Writing, Spelling, Reading, Vocabulary, and the Old Testament (Judges through Malachi). You will have Mrs. McVay as your Math, Science, and Social Studies teacher. I have always enjoyed teaching Fifth Graders, and I hope you will love Fifth Grade as much as I do. I have a daughter, Brittany, and a son, Chad, who graduated from Trinity and the University of Alabama. Go Wildcats! Roll Tide!
Our first day of school is August 11th. This will be a half-day, 8:00 A.M. to
11:30 A.M. Sage dining will begin serving lunch on Thursday, August 12th, the first full day of school. Please stop by the Lower School office to pick up your school supply box the week of August 2-6, between 8:00 A.M. and 1:00 P.M. Some items, such as Kleenex and paper towels, may have been brought to the classrooms. Included in your box are two spirals for math, one spiral for English, and a binder for Science and Social Studies. Teachers will supply the correct labels for these items, and students may label everything else in the box. Students will also have rotation bags and folders that have been ordered separately from the supply box. Teachers will give these items out when students return to school. I hope you have enjoyed your summer reading and Math review! Remember to bring your two AR sheets and your Math packet with you on the first day of school.
Parents: Grades 2-5 Sneak-a-Peek visits in the classrooms will be August 9th from 4:00 P.M. to 6:25 P.M. Please come and go at your convenience during this time to meet the teachers and pick up your Fifth Grade information sheets in your child’s homeroom. I look forward to meeting you!
Sincerely,
Gidget Smith
